Beauty and barber professionals are uniquely positioned to sense a client's physical safety and well-being. You may be in a unique position to identify potential signs of domestic violence, connect individuals with life-saving resources and help create safer workplaces and communities.

The Calvert County Behavioral Health's Center for Change provides approved state-mandated training to meet the legal requirements established by Maryland House Bill 1547. This law requires licensed professionals in the beauty and barbering industry to complete one hour of domestic violence awareness training to obtain an original license or renew a current license. The license types that require this training are: Barber, Barber Limited, Senior Cosmetologist, Cosmetologist, Limited Hairstylist, Limited Esthetician, Limited Nail Technician, Limited Blow-Dry stylist.

Calvert County Behavioral Health Department offers Domestic Violence Awareness Training on a regular basis. The class is one-hour, in-person. The cost is $10. After registration, your $10 invoice will be emailed to the email address on the registration form.

Our next training will be: May 18th at 1 pm at the Southern Branch of Calvert Library in Solomons. Registration is required. Sign up below:
